Lavender Brown
Played by Kathleen Cauley in the second film (non-speaking part, but the actress is credited as Lavender):

Played by Jennifer Smith in the third film, again in a non-speaking role:

In the later films, when she gets a considerably larger part and dates a member of the main cast, she’s played by Jessie Cave:

So yeah. This is a thing that happened.
What. WHY!? ok, sadly I do know why.
I never looked at the credits, so I didn’t realise they’d cast Lavender before. Bloody hell - WTF?!
I liked Jessie as Lavender and all, even if I never saw Lavender as that air headed, but this is just wrong. The only thing I can think of is that the directors changed a few times between the two, and the casting directors probably did too, and with the role not being a speaking role or anything they didn’t notice so….
I dunno. Don’t like this. Besides, I thought Lavender was east asian?
Lavender’s ethnicity was not revealed in the first few books, and apparently no one bothered to tell the casting director. I personally don’t think that this is anything to do with racism, just a belated correction to bring the character more in line with the books.
